We start our hike near the spot where Stonewall Jackson earned his nickname, and then we do a counterclockwise loop through the ground of the First Battle of Bull Run, then the Second, before returning to our starting point.

$5. Long hike: 10 mi., 600 ft. ascent. Moderate hike: 6 mi., 300 ft. ascent.
Historical markers and signs abound along the way, as do cannons. The route takes us across open farmland and through shaded woodlands, including a stretch along the namesake waterway of the battles (from the Union perspective), Bull Run. There's an option to cut the hike short halfway through and go straight back to the Visitor Center, via a trail that passes the historic Stone House.
