Trailhead Hike: Broad Run, VA (Bluebell Hike)

Sat, Apr 01

|

Bull Run Park

Although we normally view the well-known bluebells at Bull Run Regional Park at this time of year, the bluebells of Broad Run are at least equally abundant and the trails along which to see them are much less crowded.

About the Event

$5. 12 mi., minimal elevation gain, with options for shortening the hike as desired.

Many other varieties of wildflowers can be seen along this surprising enclave close to the City of Manassas.  Hikers will begin at the parking area at Victory Elementary School and take the trail towards Linton Hill Rd.  After admiring the bluebells in profusion past the underpass, they will take the trail to Sudley Manor Rd., cross the road, and go past the gated Dumbarton community to do a there-and-back alongside the stream.  Upon returning, they will take the trail on the other side of Broad Run, where more bluebells are to be seen, go along Linton Hall Rd. to Linton Hall School, descend to the river, and double-back along the Broad Run Trail to the parking area.
