Dog days of August got you down? Brighten your mood with this winner in the shady wilderness of George Washington National Forest. From Little Fort Recreation Area, we’ll make a steep ascent on the Wagon Road Trail and climb Woodstock Tower for a memorable view of the Seven Bends of the Shenandoah River. Then we’ll head south on the Massanutten Trail along Powell Mtn., with moderate hikers stopping at Edinburg Gap. Long hikers continue on the trail to an outstanding viewpoint on Short Mtn., then return to the Gap.
