About the Event
$36. Long hike: 9½ mi, 2600 ft. elevation gain. Moderate hike: 8½ mi, 2400 ft. elevation gain. Shorter hike option available.
Starting in the Shenandoah Valley on the west side of the range, we trek south from Fridley Gap on the Massanutten South Trail to a spectacular overlook. After taking in its view, those desiring a shorter option retrace their steps. All other hikers continue on the Massanutten South Trail, turn north on a fire road to the Fridley Gap Trail, and then left to follow the trail over the ridge of Third Mtn. Long hikers go further on an unmarked side trail along a babbling mountain run.
