About the Event
$26 + park fee/pass. Long hike: 11 mi., 2500 ft. ascent, 2900 ft. descent. Moderate hike: 7½ mi., 1800 ft. ascent, 1800 ft. descent.
From the Upper Hawksbill Parking Area 0n the Skyline Drive, we’ll first follow the Skyland-Big Meadows Horse Trail to the Rose River Trail, which will take us to Rose River Falls. We’ll then ascend the Dark Hollow Falls Trail, past Dark Hollow Falls, to the Big Meadows Picnic Area. Moderate hikers stop there. Long hikers continue southbound on the Appalachian Trail to the Lewis Falls Trail and Lewis Falls before ending with a southbound stretch on the AT to Milam Gap.
