Hike: Rose River Falls / Dark Hollow Falls / Lewis Falls, Shenandoah Nat’l Park

$26 + park fee/pass (BRING CASH - about $8.00 per hiker if you don't have a park pass!). Long hike: 11 mi., 2500 ft. ascent, 2900 ft. descent. Moderate hike: 7½ mi., 1800 ft. ascent, 1800 ft. descent.

A waterfalls trifecta today! Three of Shenandoah’s most beautiful cascades beckon in this annual classic in Shenandoah’s Central District. From the Upper Hawksbill Parking Area on Skyline Drive, we’ll first follow the Skyland-Big Meadows Horse Trail to the Rose River Trail, which will take us to Rose River Falls. We’ll then ascend the Dark Hollow Falls Trail, past Dark Hollow Falls, to the Big Meadows Picnic Area. Moderate hikers stop there. Long hikers continue southbound on the Appalachian Trail to the Lewis Falls Trail and Lewis Falls before ending with a northbound stretch on the AT back to the Big Meadows Picnic Area.
