Hike:Robertson Mtn., Shenandoah National Park, VA

$26 + park pass/fee. Long hike: 12 mi., 3000 ft. ascent/descent. Moderate hike: Up to 10 mi., 2600 ft. ascent/descent.

Forget Old Rag! Its across-the-valley neighbor, Robertson Mtn., isn’t as famous, but it has a magnificent view of its own from its summit rocks. And it’s refreshingly less crowded! We’ll get to the summit via different routes after a stretch on the Weakley Hollow Fire Road from the bucolic settlement of Nethers. Long hikers turn off and climb the steep Robertson Mtn. Trail to the top, returning to Nethers on the Corbin Hollow and Nicholson Hollow Trails. Moderate hikers bag the peak on the Corbin Hollow and Robertson Mtn. Trails, then retrace back to the bus.
