$36. Long hike: 12 mi. Moderate hike: 7½ mi. Elevation gain 500-600 ft. for both hikes.
Prince William Forest once dominated millions of square miles. The hike is beautiful in winter; and wildlife abounds, including beaver. All hikers start at the Turkey Run Education Center. Moderate hikers make a loop following the High Meadows, South Valley and Turkey Run Ridge Trails. Long hikers follow a loop consisting of the following trails: High Meadows, South Valley, Pyrite Mine, Scenic Drive, North Orenda, South Valley and Turkey Ridge.
