About the Event
$26 + park fee/pass. Long or medium hike: Up to 11 mi., 3500 ft. ascent, 1200 ft. descent. Moderate hike: 7 mi., 2600 ft. ascent, 300 ft. descent.
We’ll start at the quaint settlement of Nethers and ascend the tree-shaded Nicholson Hollow Trail along the babbling Hughes River. Atop the Blue Ridge we’ll turn southbound on the Appalachian Trail to the Stony Man overlook on the Skyline Drive, where the moderate hikers end. Long hikers continue on the AT to the summit of Stony Man Mtn. and its celebrated vista. Another option: Do a medium hike by starting with the group at Nethers and turning around early part-way up Nicholson Hollow.
