About the Event
$36. Long hike: 10 mi., 1000 ft. ascent. Moderate hike: 8 mi., 700 ft. ascent.
All hikers will begin on the Potomac Heritage Trail from Rippons Landing along the newly constructed boardwalk over Neabsco Creek and the Julie Metz Wetlands. Then they will continue along the PHT to pass through Leesylvania State Park and go all the way to the overlook onto Powell Creek. From there they will backtrack to Leesylvania, take the Powell Creek Trail to a second overlook, the Bushey Point Trail, and the Potomac Trail to arrive at the extensive views of the Potomac River. Long hikers will take an additional loop along the Lees Wood Trail, which is filled with historical interest. Est.: 10 miles, 1100' elevation and 8 miles, 700' elevation.
