Starting at historic Camp Roosevelt, site of the first Depression-era CCC camp, we’ll climb the Stephens Trail to its junction with the Massanutten Trail atop the jagged Massanutten ridge.

$36. Long hike: up to 13½ mi., 1600 ft. ascent. Short hike: 8½ mi., 1200 ft. ascent.
There moderate hikers turn south and follow Massanutten Trail south to Kennedy Peak, a prominent summit with a popular lookout tower, and continue on the trail back to Camp Roosevelt. Long hikers turn north at the junction for a view-filled jaunt along the Massanutten ridgeline as far up to Habron Gap as they like and then backtrack before returning to the junction and following the moderate hikers to Kennedy Peak.
