About the Event
$26 + park fee/pass. Long hike: 11½ mi., 3500 ft. ascent, 1700 ft. descent. Medium hike: 9½ mi., 2900 ft. ascent, 1100 ft. descent. Short hike: 6½ mi. 2000 ft. ascent, 900 ft. descent.
We’ll start at the park’s north entrance in Front Royal and gradually ascend the Dickey Ridge Trail southbound, affording great views of the Shenandoah Valley and Massanutten Mtns. Short hikers stop at Low Gap. Others continue to the Appalachian Trail and take it south, with moderate hikers ending at Compton Gap and the Skyline Drive’s Indian Run Overlook/ Long hikers hikers climb over Compton Peak to Jenkins Gap.
