Hike: Big Schloss / Tibbett Knob, GWNF, VA/WV

$26.  Long hike: 11 mi., 3300 ft. ascent, 2200 ft. descent. Moderate hike: 8 mi., 2300 ft. ascent, 1200 ft. descent.

First up is Big Schloss, the most famous landmark George Washington National Forest. We’ll get there from Rt. 749, heading north alongside Woodstock Reservoir before joining the Little Stony Creek Trail and climbing the Big Schloss Cutoff Trai to the Mill Mtn. Trail A southbound jaunt on the latter and a short sidetrip take us to Big Schloss. We then continue to Wolf Gap, from where long hikers add a roundtrip to Summit No. 2, Tibbett Knob.
