Carpool Hike: AT – Jenkins Gap/North Marshall/Compton Peak, SNP, VA

$5 plus SNP fee or park pass. Long hike: 9½ mi., 1,800 ft. ascent/descent. Moderate hike: 6½ mi., 1,100 ft. ascent/ descent.

From the Jenkins Gap parking area, all hikers will go south to see the panoramic view from North Marshall. Upon the return towards Jenkins Gap long hikers will go north to Compton Peak and take the spur trails to the overlook and the basalt columns. A shorter option is available, going to Compton Peak and back, with excursions along the short spur trails as desired.
