Trailhead hikes for now
September 4, 2021
Dear Capital hikers,
After a COVID-induced hiatus of 17 months, Capital Hiking Club returned to weekly action on Saturday, Aug. 7, and completed four very successful hiking trips by bus. We said at the time of the relaunch that we'd be monitoring the pandemic situation and adjusting plans accordingly. Right now, the resurgence of the virus has become concerning enough that we're switching to trailhead hikes for a few weeks and will then reassess how things are going.
Hikers will still register through Meetup, and the fee will be $5. Everyone will be responsible for arranging their own transportation to the trailhead. Carpoolers are encouraged to make sure drivers are appropriately compensated for mileage costs and that any park fees are divided fairly. Leaders will have scouted the hike as usual and will provide maps.
We're optimistic that we can soon return to riding the bus to our hiking destinations.
